Hey boys and girls,

It’s been a wicked busy month around the office. Three of the five Fall shows have opened, and the two big ones are opening in a couple of weeks. I will be ready to hang out and recharge at MCN 2013, come November 20th!

In the interim, those of you on the mailing list should’ve already gotten notice that our next Drinking About Museums: Boston will be taking place on Weds., Oct. 30th at 6PM, with the Godfather of DAM himself, Mr. Koven J. Smith, former Director of Technology at Denver Art Museum! In case you’re not familiar with his work, it’s worth checking out some of these links. The man’s a sharp thinker and an all-around swell guy. You’d be a fool to miss him!

He started off his amazing Ignite Smithsonian talk “What’s the point of a museum website?” by saying, “I don’t think I believe in museum websites anymore.” It gets better from there.

A note on formats

We will be meeting at Grafton Street in Harvard Square and having an old-fashioned, all-drinking Drinking About Museums.  The results of the survey after last month’s spectacularly successful trial of the Museums Showoff format was very interesting. Lots of people said they preferred the format, though very few said they’d be interested in showing off themselves. Jenn and I gave it a think and decided we’d try alternating formats, so one month we’ll hang out, next month we’ll show off. Hopefully that’ll allow everybody an opportunity to come to their kind of event, and give us more time to rustle up interesting speakers for y’all!

See ya next Wednesday at 6PM!
